McEllistrim dynasty ends as Spring stages return

A MEMBER of one of Kerry’s old political dynasties, outgoing FF TD Tom McEllistrim, lost his seat to a member of the Spring dynasty, Arthur John Spring in Kerry North/West Limerick.

It was a bitter disappointment for FF who are now without a seat in the three-seat constituency for the first time.

However, there was jubilation in the Labour camp after Mr Spring regained the seat lost by his uncle, former Labour party leader and tánaiste, Dick Spring, in 2002.
