FAMILIES struggling to pay their mortgage will not lose their home during the recession, Labour leader Eamon Gilmore said yesterday.

The pledge came at the launch in Cork of his party’s Distressed Mortgages and Household Debt Plan, which includes a two-year moratorium on repossessions to give people time to sort out their financial position.

“What we are saying to families is that if Labour is in government, they will enjoy the peace of mind that they will not lose their home during the recession,” Mr Gilmore said.
