HE’S on course to become the next taoiseach and Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny clearly doesn’t want to do or say anything to harm that progress. Skirting difficult questions by offering safe, bland, generalised answers is the order of the day.

This, of course, is not unusual for politicians. But Mr Kenny arguably took it to a new level in his latest interview yesterday, when he appeared on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland to discuss the campaign issues.

On several occasions, rather than answer the question he was asked, Mr Kenny issued responses that promoted Fine Gael’s “five-point plan” on jobs, the budget, health, the public sector and political reform.
