PILOTS have been warned of the dangers posed to their aircraft by overhead cables while operating at low levels above terrain.

It follows the release yesterday by the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) of a report into an accident at Moll’s Gap in Co Kerry on May 1, 2010.

A Robinson R44 helicopter had been parked on an elevated crest overlooking the road at Moll’s Gap while its occupants acted as officials at a car rally.
