Screen stars lauded at glitzy awards

MIRIAM O’CALLAGHAN again had her finger on the pulse when she jokingly quipped, “I know you all want to hear about the election, right?” to the gathered crowds of A-listers and acting talent at Saturday’s Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAS).

In a welcome reprieve from politics, the cream of Irish and international on-screen talent were honoured at the glitzy celebration in Dublin’s Convention Centre.

Household names such as Bill Cullen and Kathryn Thomas were joined by international stars (and winners on the night) Pierce Brosnan and Saoirse Ronan at the event which saw top director Morgan O’Sullivan receive the Outstanding Contribution to Industry award.
