Tribunal fines solicitor €7.5k

A CORK solicitor has been fined €7,500 by the Solicitors’ Disciplinary Tribunal after being found guilty of professional misconduct over five separate charges.

Mairead Casey of Casey & Co Solicitors, based at North Main Street, Bandon, Co Cork, was censured as a result of her failure to reply to 16 separate pieces of correspondence from her professional body, the Law Society of Ireland, between March 2005 and May 2008.

Ms Casey was also found guilty of failing to comply with the direction of the Society’s Complaints and Client Relations Committee in April 2008 to pay €650 towards the cost of an investigation.
