IMF: Restoring banking sector a daunting task

THE IMF has warned that restoring the banking sector to health remains a daunting challenge.

It has also indicated that doubts about whether the next government will stick to policy laid down in the EU-IMF bailout agreement are “contributing to market uncertainty” about Ireland.

The IMF outlined its concerns in an interim review of the progress being made by Ireland in implementing the terms and conditions of the agreement.
