ONE in every eight Irish children with a social networking site has no privacy settings, allowing anybody to gain personal information that could be used against them.

Up to half of the 60% of youngsters who have their own Facebook or other social site do not know how to change their online profile to make it more private.

The companies behind the hugely popular sites have agreed to work with the EU to change the default settings, especially for young people.
