Robberies involving violence increase by 50%

A CRIME victims’ group has expressed alarm at a 50% hike in robberies against people last year.

Crime Victims Helpline say the crime — which involves the use, or threat, of violence — had a “traumatising effect” on victims.

Fine Gael justice spokes- man Alan Shatter said there was a “direct link” between the crime and the economic crisis.
