Surfers oppose revised €6m Doolin pier plan

PLANS for a revised €6 million pier at Doolin in Co Clare will pose a significant health and safety threat to surfers along with damaging the world famous wave environment at the location.

The claim was made by the West Coast Surf Club (WCSC) which opposed an initial plan and forced a re-think from council planners.

The new proposal relocates the pier 25 metres away from the world-class waves of Crab Island and Doolin Point at Doolin, but shortens the pier by 15m.
