FINE GAEL are preparing for a major revision of the EU-IMF loan conditions starting with restoring the minimum wage, reducing employers’ PRSI for the low-paid and changing the planned restructuring of the public service.

Party leader Enda Kenny and finance spokesperson Michael Noonan spent 90 minutes discussing their plans with European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso in Brussels last night.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, they said that as well as making a bid to reduce the 6% interest rate they put the EU on notice that if better conditions are being offered in future under the rescue facility, Ireland should benefit retroactively.
