ER star helps launch Dublin festival

A FORMER star of hit TV series ER — who is currently treading the boards in Dublin — was on hand last night to help launch the line-up for the city’s 9th Jameson International Film Festival.

“I’m really proud of this year’s festival,” said director Gráinne Humphreys. “It’s managed to bring the best of contemporary cinema to Dublin.”

Maura Tierney — best known for her role as Abby in ER and starring in the Gate Theatre’s production of God of Carnage — helped unveil an impressive roster of films. She spoke of “the unique experience” that film festivals now offer in an age when a great many films are being watched on computer screens.
