THE Greens finally quit Government last night after three and a half years of turmoil and tensions with Fianna Fáil.

Party leader John Gormley insisted the junior coalition partner had “lost patience” with the ongoing FF leadership saga and had been “left in the lurch” by the Taoiseach’s behaviour.

Opposition parties branded the move “electoral opportunism” as the Greens insisted they would still support budget measures in the Finance Bill from outside Government.
