Global invite for Tall Ships
Waterford has distributed the postcards to homes, schools, hotels and public offices in the area and is urging locals to send them on to friends and family throughout Ireland and overseas.
Recipients are invited to experience what will be Ireland’s biggest ever quayside — when the international Tall Ships come to Waterford from June 30 to July 3.
As well as getting the chance to see over 70 of the iconic tall ships from ports around the world, those attending the event can experience international and Irish acts and a food village featuring local and speciality produce.
Mayor of Waterford Cllr Mary Roche launched the postcard campaign yesterday and said the Tall Ships Races festival was destined to be the “greatest ever” event hosted in the city.
“We hope the postcards will reach the far-flung corners of the world and encourage as many people as possible to visit Waterford this summer,” she said. “I really feel nothing will compare to those four days and, whether people have an interest in tall ships or just want to experience the free festival, fireworks and entertainment, the atmosphere is going to be just electric.”
