Loyalists thought game was up

EARLY yesterday, Brian Cowen loyalists were convinced the game was up.

The revelations in a Sunday newspaper about Mr Cowen’s, pictured right, previously undisclosed contacts with former Anglo boss Sean FitzPatrick had left him in a very difficult situation.

Even though Mr Cowen insisted he did nothing wrong in those contacts, and acted appropriately at all times, even his defenders conceded he was in a bad spot.
