THE Green Party has not been given a specific guarantee that its flagship Climate Change Bill will be passed in the Dáil before an election is called.

The bill — which is opposed by a number of Fianna Fáil backbenchers — will be enacted “provided adequate Oireachtas time is available over the coming weeks” according to a programme for the remainder of term released by the Chief Whip yesterday.

FF TDs will attempt to long-finger the bill at their parliamentary party meeting this morning, at which they will seek time to debate the proposals and have their concerns addressed.
