22 judges fail to make contributions in lieu of levy
Under a provision in the Finance Bill last year, arrangements were put in place for judges, who were exempted from the pension levy when the legislation was introduced, to make a voluntary contribution instead.
Figures revealed in Revenue’s headline results for 2010 show that 125 judges have made voluntary contributions of over €1.2 million in lieu of paying the public service pension levy. However, some 22 judges have not made the contribution.
