“I CAME in two days ago with a swollen leg and I was told I have a clot on my groin, but I don’t expect to be out of here until Saturday at the earliest, it’s absolutely terrible.”

These are the words of a 67-year-old patient, who has been languishing on a trolley at Cork University Hospital’s (CUH) emergency department since the start of the week.

Though the figures for people on trolleys at CUH was reduced by almost 40 patients to just nine by yesterday evening, the dignity and comfort of those left to undergo treatment while on trolleys is still being comprised.
