Jean’s latest little number causes quite the storm
Britain has Kate Moss, but does she tell the nation about how wet the weekend is going to be while dressed to kill? Of course not, but Jean does.
Her latest fashion offering to the nation, a black, slashed ‘spiderweb’ dress, which she wore on Wednesday night, certainly got our minds off the cold weather.
Pictures were rapidly uploaded onto Twitter and were getting thousands of hits. She was even one of the top trending topics in the capital city.
Forget about the cold weather bringing the country to a standstill, Jean does it for a couple of minutes every night she is on.
The Jean Byrne Facebook Appreciation page has 753 members, complete with pictures and comments.
The description of the site describes her as a “real goth” and “the coolest meteorologist in history”.
Who can argue?
After her latest number hit the airwaves on Wednesday night, Twitter was buzzing with comments from both admiring men and women.
Louise McSharry, clearly a long-time admirer of Jean’s, thought the now infamous black dress was a tamer option than the weather forecaster has previously worn.
“Really glad I’m getting to see Jean Byrne’s dress, surprised by the fuss, one of her more understated choices I would have thought!” she wrote on Twitter.
However, others Tweeters thought the daring outfit a little too impractical for the cold weather Jean was telling us was on the way.
“Jean Byrne’s outfit from last night is definitely not suitable for the frost and ice she’s predicting,” wrote Catherine Mannion.
Even a blind man couldn’t resist asking about the Kerry forecaster’s charms. Literally.
“Ok, I am blind so could one of you tell me the deal with Jean Byrne’s dress? Its all you are talking about. lol,” wrote Nicky Kealy, a musician and guide dog owner.
Cian O’Mahony was direct in his point as to what all the fuss was about.
“Weather warning of severe sexy from Jean Byrne,” he wrote.
However, after all the jokes, many women thought that Jean was to be credited for trying something a little bit different and bringing some style to Irish television.
“I think Jean Byrne’s dress this evening was lovely. The woman has style and courage,” wrote Sinead Egan.
So say all of us.
