Gilmore: Country was humiliated by EU/IMF deal

THE country was “humiliated” by the deal negotiated between the Government and the IMF and EU late last year, the Labour Party leader insisted yesterday.

Eamon Gilmore said the bailout deal “has to be renegotiated” in order for the Irish economy to be allowed grow and for job creation to get under way.

“It’s not a promise — it’s a necessity,” he said in Clonmel during a constituency visit to launch the campaign of South Tipperary candidate Phil Prendergast.
