‘Nightmarish, horrendous and appalling’

A WOMAN who has been treated in the country’s most overcrowded emergency department (ED) in recent days has described conditions there as “nightmarish, horrendous and appalling.”

Rose Lyons was speaking last night after several visits to Cork University Hospital’s (CUH) emergency department where yesterday 48 people were on trolleys — more than any other hospital in the country.

“It was manic in there — nightmare stuff really,” Ms Lyons said.
