Spectacular solar eclipse to herald new dawn?

EVERY cloud has a silver lining, they say.

And today, as gloomy workers dragged themselves back to the office or the factory, for many of them their mood was lifted by what was promised to be the “most spectacular celestial event” of the year.

Early risers were graced by a partial eclipse of the sun — the last such occurrence for another four years.
