LABOUR has hit out at the Green Party for reneging on its promise of a general election by the end of January.

Two Green Party ministers — John Gormley and Eamon Ryan — have both said in recent days that they expect an election to take place in March.

This is despite their announcement following the arrival of the IMF bailout team in November that an election date should be set for the second half of January or they would pull out of Government.
