Lenihan declares cancer has ‘stabilised’

A YEAR after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said his illness has “stabilised” describing his treatment as “so far, so good.”

Mr Lenihan’s illness became public on St Stephen’s Day last year following a diagnosis in the days running up to Christmas. A number of days later, he spoke openly about having to undergo a course of treatment for a number of months.

In an interview published yesterday he said: “The condition has stabilised. I’m really grateful for the good wishes I have received from all over Ireland and the excellent help, obviously, at the Mater Hospital. Everyone has been so kind and good to me.”
