THE Equality Tribunal has ordered a community school to pay €5,000 compensation to a separated father over its refusal to provide him with requested information and documentation on his children’s educational performance.

It found the man had been discriminated against on the grounds of his marital status.

The man complained that the school made no attempt to contact him or to alert him about problems which had arisen, despite its policy that both parents in a separated couple should receive correspondence about their child’s progress.
