DWINDLING alcohol sales and a declining pub spend is placing thousands of jobs at risk in the drinks industry, a study has found.

The report by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI) found the decline taking place within the trade over the past decade has grown rapidly since the collapse of the economy.

Speaking to Licensing World trade magazine, DCU economist and author of the report, Anthony Foley, said employment within the wider drinks industry was under severe threat.
