Political Correspondent Paul O’Brien says Micheál Martin sees himself as next in line

AN interesting thing happened when Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin appeared on RTE’s Frontline programme this week. He spoke like he knew he was going to be the next leader of Fianna Fáil.

The context was an accusation from a panellist on the programme that Fianna Fáil had always been reckless in opposition, its sole purpose being to undermine the Government of the day at every turn and get back into power.
