MINISTERS’ pay will be cut in tomorrow’s budget but it remains unclear if the Government will target the massive salaries of chief executives in the commercial semi-state sector.

The Government has continually wavered on tackling the high six-figure remuneration packages of semi-state bosses because it believes they have legally binding contracts which cannot be undone.

It was reported over the weekend that the Government will introduce a pay cap of €250,000 tomorrow which would apply across the public sector, including the semi-states.
