FREEZING temperatures smashed records in parts of Ireland last month, MetÉireann said.

While most weather stations around the country recorded the coldest Novembersince 1985, Dublin was hit even harder.

The mercury plunged to -9.1C at Casement Aerodrome, at Baldonnel, on Sunday, with the ground temperatures at -13.7C.
