GREEN leader John Gormley says he is prepared to guillotine debate on climate change legislation so it can be pushed through the Dáil before the Government’s demise.

Passage of the legislation would be a major boost for the Greens and help restore the faith of its political base as the party faces into a difficult general election.

But it would be a controversial move, given that Taoiseach Brian Cowen has already said the Government will continue only until legislation to enact the budget is passed early next year.
