Students still awaiting grants

THREE months into the college year, 258 students in South Tipperary have still not received a maintenance grant for college, according to information released to Fine Gael’s Tom Hayes.

Figures from the Dept of Education show 1,236 students applied for the grant in South Tipperary this year, but 258 haven’t had their application processed yet. That figure is 12,787 nationally.

“Students are being threatened by colleges and are dropping-out,” said Mr Hayes
