Public service entrants will earn 10% less

THE few people who manage to secure a job with the public service over the next four years will do so on 10% less start-off pay and an inferior pension scheme than the existing staff.

In yesterday’s four-year plan the Government said the 10% pay reduction would lead to “a further sustainable reduction in public service pay costs over the medium term”.

It also says those who do start will have to enter the service on the lowest point of the pay scale.
