Driver concern at trailer limit

TRUCK drivers have claimed proposed new EU legislation aimed at standardising the height of all new semi-trailers to four metres will have dire consequences for Ireland’s already fragile transport and freight industry.

Owen Cooke, chairman of The Pallet Network and Independent Express Cargo Ltd, said if the limit was implemented it would double the cost of transport of most dry freight products and force Irish transport companies out of business.
