Munster cocktail has plenty of kick

A WINE dedicated to Munster rugby has been going down very well at Thomond Park’s hospitality suites.

Munster cocktail has plenty of kick

And now a Limerick pub has come up with Munster — the cocktail. Needless to say it has plenty of kick.

Two cocktail barmen at The Locke Bar, Richard Costello Jr and Neill Foley, have been working on the ingredients for the past few weeks.

Richard, whose dad Richard Snr played rugby for Ireland and Garryowen, said: “We thought it would be a good idea to add a ‘Munster’ to our menu of cocktails.”

Neill added they had experimented with various mixtures.

He said: “Obviously we had to come up with a cocktail with a red body and white top. To achieve that the ‘Munster’ cocktail ingredients include vodka, schnapps, cranberry juice, grenadine syrup and a few other little touches which we are keeping to ourselves.

“We are very pleased with the end result and the ‘Munster’ is being well received. We had 12 different cocktails and the ‘Munster’ is now our 13th. It takes about two minutes to make and costs €6. Cocktails have got increasingly popular and Richard and I underwent training in making cocktails with Diageo.

“Having the ‘Munster’ will be great on big Heineken Cup days.”
