A MAN found with an Uzi submachine gun in a Limerick hotel was yesterday jailed for 10 years.

At Limerick Circuit Court, Fintan Lynch, aged 31, of O’Malley Park, Southill, pleaded guilty to having the gun for an unlawful purpose and also having a gun silencer in suspicious circumstances.

The man claimed he had the gun for his own protection after his brother was shot. Gun magazines were also found.
