Room for improvement on price of €70k little house
There is no doubt that 5a Mount Pleasant Road, near Turner’s Cross in the southside of Cork city, gives a whole new meaning to the description “compact and bijou” – though its asking price of €70,000 for a 230 square-feet property certainly has a lot of frontage in the current recessionary times.
Nonetheless a potential buyer does get a home with its own driveway.
And given the diminutive dimensions inside, the shed out the back will prove invaluable for storing all the possessions for which there simply isn’t room.
According to auctioneer Timothy Sullivan the “mews” was built nine years ago on the side of an existing house. When the owners of the main property sold it on they kept the deeds for the unit.
The entrance is to the side of the one-storey structure and when one enters the small hallway there are three rooms into which one can proceed. Straight ahead is the small tiled bathroom with fitted two-piece suite, a separate shower stand with instant electric shower.
It is flanked by the 12ft by 9ft kitchen/living area on one side and the 9ft by 9ft bedroom.
The vendors point out the kitchen boasts modern fitted-units and a patio door which gives straight access to the rear garden.
Of the asking price, Mr Sullivan says the property will probably sell “for a bit less than that”.
Despite the size and the fact there is no sign in front of the property as yet, there is already interest, according to the auctioneer.
