ROGUE car clampers should face serious sanctions, including fines and jail terms of up to five years, Fine Gael has said.

The party has proposed new legislation which would make it illegal for a company to clamp a car unless the firm had an operating licence.

The owners of unlicensed or “rogue” clamping companies would face punishment of up to five years in prison if convicted in court.
