Decision on coast guard base next month

A DECISION on whether the Office of Public Works (OPW) will be able to build a long-awaited base for one of the country’s busiest Coast Guard units is expected early next month.

Clare County Council, meanwhile, continues to reject claims it is delaying progress in Doolin by seeking further information on whether a planning application requires a foreshore licence.

The project had been delayed repeatedly due to site difficulties and funding problems. However, a site has been secured along with funding.
