Ex-public dentist’s sex abuse inquiry re-opens

THE Health Service Executive has re-opened an investigation into alleged sexual abuse by a former public dentist who, it is feared, could have assaulted up to 100 children.

The man, who was a health board employee, treated primary school children during the 1970s in the southern half of the country. He is now retired on a state pension.

A former work colleague of the dentist was contacted by the childcare division of the HSE in recent months and will be interviewed as part of a review of the case files.
