THE outcome of a ballot that could lead to major unrest at Aer Lingus and the potential grounding of thousands of passengers through strikes will be made known this afternoon.

IMPACT trade union, which represents ground crew at the airline, has balloted its members for action up to and including strike action in a dispute over working hours.

That dispute is over management’s wish to increase cabin crew flight time to 850 hours under the airline’s Greenfield €97m savings plan.
