Gardaí hospitalised after car rammed

The gardaí were on duty near Adare at about 1.30am when they were alerted about a car allegedly being driven in an erratic and dangerous manner.

The green Alfa Romeo reportedly failed to stop when a checkpoint was mounted by the gardaí. After giving chase, they tried to intercept the car at Crecora and were rammed. The Alfa sped off and the two gardaí were brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The car was found near Crecora some hours later. Gardaí from Roxboro Road Garda Station are trying to track down the driver.
