AFTER the disappointing outcome of a certain World Cup qualifier between Ireland and France earlier this year, the suggestion that the referee “should have gone to Specsavers” became a common complaint.

Well now it appears that advice did not fall on deaf ears as the Ladies Gaelic Football Association have named optician giant Specsavers as the sponsors of their referees.

The two-year deal will see the Specsavers logo adorn the newly designed referees kit for national competitions such as the All-Ireland Championships, the National Leagues, the All-Ireland Club Championships, the All-Ireland Club Sevens and the All-Ireland Schools finals.
