Suzanne Kelly, of Broadway Drive, Clonsilla, Co Dublin, claimed she broke out in a painful nettle-type rash which had swollen in the affected areas.
She sued Rosemary Duffy, who trades as So Belle beauty rooms in the Ashleigh Centre at Main Street, Castleknock, Co Dublin. A full denial of negligence had been entered by defence barrister Conor Kearney.
In a statement of claim initiated in the High Court but later remitted to the Circuit Civil Court, Ms Kelly said she suffered severe allergic, swollen rash symptoms to both the bikini and underarm areas after hair removal by waxing.
The rash spread to her inner thighs and the swelling and extreme itchiness had shocked and distressed her as she was pregnant at the time.
Following treatment by her own doctor she had been referred to a consultant obstetrician and later to a consultant dermatologist.
Ms Kelly’s claim was due to have been heard yesterday but her barrister Susan Lennox told the Circuit Civil Court that the case had been settled.
Judge Mary Faherty adjourned the claim until November to facilitate implementation of the settlement, the amount of which was not disclosed in court.
