Stabbed man in stable condition

A MAN stabbed at a Co Limerick petrol station on Thursday was in a stable condition at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital last night.

There were unconfirmed reports of a shot being fired near the home of the injured man some time later.

The incident occurred in the village of Caherconlish at around 7.30pm. It is understood that the man, who is 26, was slashed across the face and neck with a weapon before his assailant left the scene. It is believed the victim’s young child was sitting in a car in the forecourt at the time of the incident.
