Two young mourners collapse under strain

THE heartbreaking toll of the last few days proved too much for some young mourners yesterday with a young man and teenage girl collapsing under the strain.

Two young mourners collapse under strain

The man, in his 20s, collapsed as he stood at the churchyard wall during the funeral Mass for Paul Doherty in Clonmany.

Those standing nearby heard his head hitting loudly off the concrete pavement. Witnesses said he was unconscious for a short while. Someone put a jacket under his head and he lay motionless on the pavement, in the recovery position, for around 15 minutes. He was treated by a local GP until an ambulance arrived and was then taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.
