Cork Week puts wind in the sails of newlyweds

IF far from the maddening crowd is most newlyweds’ idea of the perfect honeymoon, John Lowry and Jane Gallagher have chosen the opposite extreme.

Instead the Co Antrim couple — who tied the knot last Friday — will spend the first week of their honeymoon in the thick of Cork Week competing against crews from all over the world.

Their boat, ominously named Wardance, has a crew of nine, with Jane’s father-in-law Paul on board for good measure.
