DESPITE a week of protests, the Department of Justice has stated it is committed to moving over 100 asylum seekers at the Mosney accommodation centre, Co Meath, to Dublin.

The vast majority of the people directed by the Department’s Reception and Integration Agency (RIA) to move to Hatch Hall in Dublin have refused to leave. Asylum seekers claim the Dublin accommodation is overcrowded and inferior to conditions at Mosney.

Irish Refugee Council CEO Sue Conlan held discussions with RIA officials yesterday. However, civil servants are adamant that residents will have to move.
