O Sé and Davison to pick a winner in Killarney fashion race
Thousands of elegantly clad women are expected to turn out for the Dawn Dairies Queen of Fashion event on Ladies’ Day next Thursday.
Ms Davison acted as a judge in 2006, but it will be a first-time experience in Killarney for Mr O Sé, a frequent winner of Ireland’s best-dressed man awards.
They will be looking for somebody with a unique sense of style and who feels comfortable and confident in what they are wearing.
“The ladies should express themselves and their personalities through their outfits. My eye is most often drawn to simplicity, clean lines, figure-flattering shapes and bright, summery colour,” said Ms Davison.
Hats, she added, could be “as wacky or as simple” as people chose, but she would be looking for those who wear them with enjoyment and self-confidence.
“Dressing for Ladies’ Day should be all about the fun of the day out at the races,” she added. Mr O Sé said he always looked for something different, or something that had not seen the light of day for a while.
“The day of having to have something new at the races might be gone with the Celtic Tiger, which is good in a way because it makes people more creative,” he remarked.
The prize will be a trip for two to New York and a specially commissioned crystal vase. There will be a separate prize for the person judged to be wearing the most stylish hat.
The races start on Monday evening and run until Thursday.
