Drugs supply line cut by ‘cocaine factory’ raid

GARDAÍ have uncovered a major drugs supply route into Dublin’s south inner city after seizing almost €2 million worth of cocaine in a raid on a gang’s factory.

The cocaine bust is a major blow to a leading underworld figure who has links to the drugs ‘bagging’ storehouse, which was operating out of a semi-detached home in Tallaght.

Senior gardaí said the closure of the sophisticated drugs operation would cut off supplies of cocaine to south inner city flat complexes.

The armed Garda operation came as residents in and around the St Teresa’s Gardens complex in Dolphin’s Barn reported higher levels of intimidation due to what they say is an increased number of drug dealers and addicts congregating at flats.

Gardaí at Kevin Street, who are investigating organised crime in the south inner city, searched a number of addresses in the Tallaght, Walkinstown and Crumlin areas on Thursday evening.

One man was arrested at the ‘cocaine factory’ in the Cushlawn area of Tallaght and a woman who arrived there later was also taken into custody. During later searches gardaí arrested another man.
