THIRTEEN non-commissioned Naval Service officers made history yesterday when they became the first members of the Defence Forces to be presented with degrees at the National Maritime College.

At a special ceremony they were each awarded a full Level 7 Ordinary Degree in leadership, management and naval studies (BA LMNS).

Achievement of this standard involved recognition of the student’s prior learning as a member of the Naval Service, combined with the successful completion of the Senior NCO’s course and a research thesis.
